The project "Are we alike or do we differ more?" has an interdisciplinary and interculture character. Regarding that the project topics are universal, it can be carry out concurrently in groups of diffrent age. It is aranged spirally. The project begins from the very pupil (his uniqueness, interests, activities) through his family, school, place he lives and region to the topics connected with the whole country, and finally to the joining Europe.

The project makes participants (pupils, teachers, and parents) aware that they are simultaneous particles of the earth, from where their "roots", but also are common citizens of Europe.

It aims to rise interest into differentiation of traditions and customs, teach tolerance, and concurrently make people more proud of their seperateness, which doesn't have anything in common with national xenophobia.

The particiation in the project encourages to being more active and creative, broaden horizons and liquidate stereotypes in perceiving other nations.

Closer and closer ties with partners give reasons to learn their languages and use modern informatical and communication technologies.

The project contains local aspect, too - it consolidates the whole school community, gives the chance to promote oneself, school and region abroad.

Detailed aims of the project:

  • Exchanging of experiences among the participants of the project in the field of cultural heritage, education, culture, music within the framework of driving to united Europe;
  • Forming liberal attitudes towards dissimilarity of other cultures;
  • Destroying stereotypes by getting to know each other;
  • Extending educational topics about knowledge relating to partner schools

Activities, which will be undertaken:

  • collecting information connected with the topic of the project;
  • gathering proper materials and documents;
  • establishing a group of teachers participating in the project and coordinating work;
  • preparing separate projects in small subject subgroups;
  • popularization of Comenius program among pupils and their parents;
  • encouraging pupils, teachers and parents to learn forein languages
  • establishing contacts with other schools interested in the project;
  • correspondence, exchange of experiences, materials and informations among partner schools.

The whole three-year project is titled "Are we more alike or different more?". In the school year 2004/2005 project concentrate on a pupil, his nearest environment. It has the title "Me - my family, my school, my locality". In the school year 2005/2006 the topic connected with our region - our "small homeland" will be included in the project. In the school year 2006/2007 subject-matter of the project will concern the whole country and forming "United Europe".

In each school year one study visit and one work visit will take place in order to organize, inculcate, monitor the preject and exchange pupils' achievements.

The actual end products obtained while executing the project:

  • the school website (in schools, which still haven't got one);
  • the project website;
  • a detailed chronicle of the project;
  • video cassettes;
  • a cookery-book with typical, regional recipes;
  • a games book for using in partner schools;
  • a dictionary with basic vocabulary and phrases;
  • portfolio of pupils;
  • a calendar of cultural events in school;
  • photographic exhibition;
  • drawing,painting exposition;
  • CD records;
  • a newspaper;
  • "The Comenius Wall";

The project's influence on the teachers, students and school environment:

  • Encouraging the members of school community to engage in activities in different fields of cooperation;
  • Showing the school community the good points of European education;
  • Giving reasons for learning foreign languages;
  • Learning and using the most modern informatical technologies available on European market;

The role of all participating institutions:

  • Project's coordinator is a Polish school;
  • All participants try to fulfill the established aims;
  • Partner schools have the right to give their proposals concerning tasks, forms and dates of accomplishing duties;
  • Partner schools should inform each other about all tasks within the project;
  • The coordinator has to coordinate, initiate, give reasons, stimulate, evaluate of whole project;

The active participation of pupils throughout the project:

  • Both pupils and teachers work out the schedule of the project;
  • The representatives of the school community interview some pupils and hold consultations with them over planned activities;
  • Pupils take an active part in the project (for example: they edit a school newspaper, "Comenius Wall" and prepare the pieces of news in the Internet - the school and the project website);
  • The representatives of the school community proposed to evaluate realization of tasks related to the preject;
  • Their engagement will be rewarded with paing visits in their partner schools;
